Wool Applique Quilt

~Bear Lodge Wool Applque Quilt~ Work in Progress

Our new wool applique quilt using hand dyed wool and a beautiful flannel background that looks just like wool yet reduces the bulk and the stretch that you would have using a wool base. Now you are able to use your wool quilt as a wall hanging if you choose and not have it drooping after a few months on the wall.

Appliqued borders will be added, please check back here often to see our progress!
This would be a wonderful quilt for your cabin at the lake or a great gift for a husband or son.

Information is on our BOM Wool Quilt Patterns page.

This is currently a Block Of The Month quilt.

A Little Bit About Me

In January 1995 I began hooking rugs and was truly hooked! I immediately purchased my first cutter and soon after found a very generous woman, Jean Tynan who taught me how to dye wool and shade flowers. Soon after a few friends asked me to teach hooking and that led to a teaching career for 6 years in various quilt shops in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Montana.

I have since retired from teaching but I still have a small group (The North Star Rug Hookers) that meet a couple of times a month. I started the Autumn Hook-In in the St. Paul area and organized it for 7 years before turning it over to someone new.

I wanted to design wool appliqué patterns for years and have finally been including them on my web site along with punch needle embroidery patterns.

My most recent venture has been designing projects for Create & Decorate magazine and All American Crafts new magazine called Christmas 365 coming out in November 2009. For those of you who love Create & Decorate and have enjoyed my designs so far, please watch for more of my projects coming in future issues including rug hooking and punch needle embroidery along with the wool applique.

My website began in 2001 and in 2008, Gone Country Graphics was hired to design a brand new site that would allow me to offer online shopping.

I have always tried my best to promote rug hooking as much as possible…I just want people to discover this wonderful craft. I sincerely hope that you'll find hooking rugs and working with wool as enjoyable as I have!

Have fun with it!

Cabin Creek Cabin
This is the real Cabin Creek. This is a Forest Service cabin about 9,000 ft. in the Gallatin Mountain Range of Montana. We used to go snowmobling every winter in this area. The cabin would always be buried in snow, we would build a fire out front and roast hot dogs, watching the fire slowly melt down into the deep snow. If you weren't looking, a Gray Jay would sneak up and grab a bite of our hot dog bun! The name Cabin Creek just stuck in my mind. When I started designing hooked rug patterns in 1996, I decided this would be the name for my business.
